2008 EVENT NEWS

Hampton Offshore Invitational News
We're about 3 1/2 weeks away from the Captain's Meeting to kick off the 8th Annual Hamptons Offshore Invitational to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island. Have you sent in your entry yet?

There's still time to get in the Early Bird Raffle: as long as your entry is postmarked August 1st (and you save $50 by registering early).

Entry forms are available at http://www.hamptonsoffshoreinvitational.com/2008-entry.pdf or you can stop by East End Bait & Tackle, Oakland's or Haskell's Outfitters.

Don't forget to include any extra dinner tickets you need for the party on Sunday, August 24.

MATCH.COM for HOI Members and non Members!

Want to fish the tourney but don't have a ride....let us know. You're in but short on crew...let us know.

We're putting together a roster of "single" anglers and "lonely" captains --our very own version of Match.com. Email Kathy Hummel (jkkhum@aol.com) or Scott Horowitz (sportfishcapt@aol.com) and let them know: angler or captain, day or overnight, phone number/email. We'll pass the list on as it grows.

SUNRISE OR SUNSET?

For the morning people, we can offer you the opportunity to see the sunrise over the gas dock as "sender". You need to be at Oakland's pre-5am, check the weather, make the call and collect drop cards/mark the book--takes about an hour or so. Let Scott (744-1200) know if you're up for the challenge.

For those of us who do much better later in the day, you can join Kathy at the weigh-in table from 4pm-7pm and welcome home the water warriors. Sign up with Kathy (723-6945) and let her know which day(s) you want to come out and play.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kathy's going to be chronicling the HOI highs and lows again this year. Obviously, if you're reading this--you're on the list. If you know someone who may NOT be on the list, please send their e-dress to Kathy.

In addition to the truck and boat raffle, there will also be a silent auction and a "regular" raffle at the dinner. The green tickets you will soon be receiving in your mailbox are for a great selection of prizes...including a grand prize of a Zodiac c3105 with Yamaha 8hp outboard (thanks to the folks at Spellman's). Other items include a $500 gas card, marine electronics, fishing tackle, rods and gift certificates. Got to be in it to win it...
